It’s known that this house was formerly owned by Tran Duy Hanh, a famous rich merchant in the South Red River Delta. At the beginning of 1910, Tran Duy Hanh hired more than 20 talented carpenters in Ly Nhan palace to build, and it took nearly a year to complete.

Ba Kien’s house is divided into three spaces, designed and built in accordance with the traditional style of the Northern Delta. After going through 7 owners, in 2007, Ha Nam Provincial People's Committee decided to buy the house for 700 million VND from his wife Tran Huu Hoa and assigned it to the Culture and Information Department of Ly Nhan district to manage and preserve as a relic.
