Lanh Giang Temple

Ha Nam is known as a land of great spirits, which has many famous tourist destinations. In particular, the temples and pagoda are hundreds of years old. Among them, the most famous is Lanh Giang Temple, the oldest and most sacred temple in Ha Nam.
 

Lanh Giang Temple (Lanh Giang Linh Tu), also known as Lanh temple, located at Yen Lac hamlet, Duy Tien district, Hanam Province. 

No one knows how many years the temple was built, only know that the temple is hundreds of years old. The temple is dedicated three generals (water gods) under the reign of King Hung and the couple princess Tien Dung - Chu Dong Tu.

Tam Quan Gate is built in the style of a stack of matches with eight roofs, typical of Vietnamese temples and pagodas. In front of Tam Quan gate is a semicircular lake, clear blue lake water adorned with bright red water lilies. In the middle of the lake are a stupa and a bridge connecting to the temple door hidden under the shadow of an old sycamore tree, creating an incredibly poetic scene. Lanh Giang Temple was built in the style of domestic and foreign, including three buildings, 14 compartments, guest houses on both sides, worshiping floors and surrounding brick walls. Inside, there are many valuable altars, elaborately and delicately carved.

Lanh Giang Temple Festival is held twice a year (18th - 25th June and 18th - 25th August of the lunar calendar). The festival aims to honor and honor the merits of supporting King Hung of the three water gods and to pay tribute to the values of the couple Princess Tien Dung - Chu Dong Tu. The festival is held around this time because this is the peak season of the Red River, so people hold the festival to wish the water god to protect and help people have a prosperous and happy life. Because of that, the festival is imbued with the cultural identity of the Red River Delta with rituals such as the announcement ceremony, the water procession, the palanquin procession, the sacrifice ceremony, the swimming brushing ceremony, etc.
