Long Doi Son pagoda

In recent years, Ha Nam has been a famous spiritual tourist destination with many temples and pagodas dating back to ancient times. In particular, it is impossible not to mention the Long Doi Son pagoda, which is nearly one thousand years old.

Long Doi Pagoda in Ha Nam, also known as Doi Pagoda, or Dien Linh Tu. The pagoda has a beautiful location, located on the top of Doi mountain, in Doi Son commune, Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province, about 50km south of Hanoi city center and Phu Ly city center (Ha Nam), about 11km. The pagoda was built by King Ly Thanh Tong and Vuong Phi Y Lan in 1054 - 1058.

In the 15th century, when the Minh armies invaded our country, many architectural works at the pagoda were destroyed. Local people repaired and restored the temple by the end of the sixteenth century.

However, in 1947, the pagoda was again destroyed during the resistance war against the French colonialists. After peace, in 1957, monks, nuns and people embellished and gradually restored the pagoda.

Experiencing many ups and downs of history, Doi Pagoda still retains its ancient and sacred features, imbued with the architectural and artistic styles of the Ly Dynasty. In addition, Doi Pagoda was also a major Buddhist center in the old town of Son Nam, reflecting a flourishing period of Buddhism in the country. That is why until now, Doi Pagoda has become the pride of every Ha Nam citizen.

In particular, at this temple, there are many artifacts with historical and cultural value, notably the stele Sung Thien Dien Linh (recognized as a national treasure by the Government in 2014). Uniquely carved stele containing a lot of rare information for the study of the history and culture of the Ly Dynasty.

Thanks to the typical historical and cultural values mentioned above, in 1992, the pagoda was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic. By December 2017, Doi Son Pagoda was ranked among the Top 10 Special National Monuments by the Prime Minister.

Every year, at the beginning of spring, Doi Pagoda attracts tourists worldwide to visit and admire the pagoda. Especially around the March lunar month, Doi Pagoda organizes a festival with many exciting activities, an opportunity for visitors to explore and experience the culture here.

There are many hotels and motels for visitors to stay in when they travel to Ha Nam. About 11km from Doi Pagoda, located in the heart of Phu Ly city, Tien Loc Palace Hotel is the perfect choice with 208 luxury apartments, fully equipped, with many quality facilities attached. Bringing visitors a cozy and familiar feeling like returning to their beloved home, making the trip even more memorable.
