Ba Vu Temple was originally built in the 15th century as a small shrine outside the riverbank, but later it was relocated inside the embankment and reconstructed on a larger scale. It has been recognized as a national - level historical and cultural relic.

Ba Vu Temple is not only a place of worship but also an attractive destination for visitors who want to explore and learn about the local history, culture, and folk beliefs. It is also a place where people come to pray, express their hopes, and show gratitude to Lady Perfume.

According to legend, during King Le Thanh Tong's military campaign to conquer Chiem Thanh and defend the border, his army had to halt near Vu Dien due to strong waves and winds on the Hoang River. At that moment, they happened to hear a story of injustice related to Ba Vu Temple. King Thanh Tong was impressed and decided to visit the temple and offer incense.

After a successful campaign and return, King Thanh Tong granted gold to the villagers to repair the temple and provided additional farmland for worship. The king himself worshiped at the temple, offered gratitude, and composed poems praising Ba Vu Temple and the great achievements of Lady Perfume.
These stories and poetic praises have fostered the reverence and gratitude of the people towards Lady Perfume and Ba Vu Temple. This further enhances the historical and spiritual value of the temple, attracting the interest and exploration of visitors from all over.

Festival at Ba Vu Temple

The festival at Ba Vu Temple is held annually from August 19th to 21st, attracting a large number of people who come to pay their respects. The people of Vu Dien and Chan Ly have preserved and conserved the material and intangible cultural values, reconstructed the ritual process, performed water procession, traditional games, and folk singing and dancing that have existed since ancient times.

The temple ceremony involves a chief officiant, assistant officiants, ritual attendants, and a female ceremonial team. Offerings include sticky rice, meat, wine, betel leaves, areca nuts, incense, and fruits. Following the ceremonial procession is the "Bat nha" (synchronized singing and dancing) in front of the temple. In the evening, lanterns and floating flowers are released on the river, and traditional performances and "cheo" singing take place. The next day, the villagers travel on two dragon boats to the middle of the river to perform a ceremony, requesting the blessings of Lady Perfume and bringing water back to offer to the deities and Buddhas.

With the combination of cultural and architectural values, Ba Vu Temple has become a special destination, attracting visitors from all over.
