Schedule of the Sacred Relic Procession of Shakyamuni Buddha to Tam Chuc Pagoda, Ha Nam

From May 17 to May 20, 2025, Tam Chuc Pagoda (Kim Bang Town, Ha Nam Province) will host a series of major spiritual events, most notably the procession and enshrinement of the relics of Shakyamuni Buddha. As a highlight of the Vesak 2025 celebration, this sacred event offers a rare opportunity for monks, nuns, devotees, and people from across the country to pay homage, pray for peace, and spread the Buddha’s message of compassion and wisdom.

Detailed Procession Route – May 17, 2025

According to the Ha Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the schedule is as follows:
  • 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM: The relics of Shakyamuni Buddha will be ceremoniously escorted from Quan Su Pagoda (Hanoi) via national highway to Liem Tuyen interchange (Thanh Liem District, Ha Nam).
  • 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: The procession will continue to the outer Tam Quan gate of Tam Chuc Pagoda.
  • 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: The relics will be paraded around Tam Chuc Lake, then proceed to the inner Tam Quan gate.
  • 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: The relics will be solemnly brought to the Tam The Hall, where they will be officially enshrined.

Following the procession and enshrinement ceremony, activities such as chanting, peace-praying rituals, and relic veneration will take place at the main hall.

In conjunction with the relic procession, Tam Chuc Pagoda will host various meaningful events as part of the Vesak 2025 celebration:
  • May 18: Grand Ceremony of Vesak 2025 at the Vesak International Convention Center, Tam Chuc Pagoda.
  • May 19 (daytime): “Loving Tree” Planting Ceremony at the Garden of Compassion – conveying a message of environmental protection and nurturing wisdom.
  • May 19 (evening): Lotus Lantern Ceremony for National Peace and Remembrance at the inner Tam Quan gate – a deeply spiritual and moving moment for the community.

Event Preparation and Safety Measures

Given the magnitude of the event, the Ha Nam Provincial People’s Committee has assigned the Provincial Police to lead coordination efforts, including:
  • Ensuring security and order along the procession route
  • Organizing traffic flow and preventing congestion
  • Inspecting fire safety systems to guarantee absolute safety
All logistics, event arrangements, and guest reception plans are being thoroughly prepared to provide a dignified and seamless experience for monastics, Buddhist followers, and pilgrims from across the country and beyond.

Prior to the procession to Tam Chuc, the relics are temporarily enshrined at the 1st floor of Quan Su Pagoda Hall (Hanoi) for public veneration from May 14 to May 16, 2025.
